Match Preview
Daniel Dubois will be aiming to rewrite the history books when he clashes with Oleksandr Usyk for the second time in his career in July. The Brit was beaten via ninth-round stoppage by the Ukrainian in August 2023, but that only told half of the story.
Dubois’ team was left furious that a seemingly legal shot was deemed a low-blow, giving Usyk minutes to recover before the fight was resumed. Since then, Dubois has been calling for a rematch, and the animosity between the fighters was clear in their pre-fight press conference in April.

The Brit put his hands on the current champion, which Usyk taunted to his opponent as a ‘sign of weakness’. Usyk’s history-making undisputed run as champion has largely been stress-free, rising to every opponent that he has faced. That was evident on two occasions last year after dominating both fights against Tyson Fury.
But, this is a more aggressive and efficient version of Dubois than the one that we saw in Poland a couple of years ago. Confidence surrounding his chances of an upset will be high, especially after two dominant KO wins last calendar year when overcoming Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua.
